Righteousness  of  God

What  is  the  Righteousness  of  God ?
hThe biblical meaning of ‘righteousness’ refers to the character of God who is just and upright (Psm. 119:137-138).   The Lord Jesus Christ is the embodiment of God’s righteousness.  “The LORD our righteousness”  (Jer. 33:16)

       Lord  Jesus  Christ’s  Offering
       is  our  Righteousness  of  God

h“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Cor. 5:21)
h“how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”  (Heb. 9:14)

     Chinese  Word  ‘Righteousness’  illustrates
Lord  Jesus  Christ  as  the  Lamb  of  God

h“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (Jn. 1:29)

is composed
of two words

means sheep or        lamb (above)

means I or me               (at the bottom)

hTo receive the righteousness of God we must have our Lord Jesus Christ over me (us) in every aspect of my life (our lives).
       Chinese  Word  ‘Righteousness’  illustrates
the  Truth  of  Lord  Jesus  Christ’s  Offering

Wo  -  I or me

is composed  of two words

Shou - Hand

Ge - Dagger

            Yi - Righteousness

Lamb of God
Pierced by
My or Our

“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;” (Isa. 53:5)

But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.”  (Jn. 19:34)

       What  about  Man’s  Righteousness ?

h“The natural man has no righteousness whatsoever.  “As it is written: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one.”  (Rom. 3:10-11)
h“But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousness are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.” (Isa. 64:6)

       What  about  Self  Righteousness ?
hAlso He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:  "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.  The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, "God, I thank You that I am not like other men--extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.  I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'  (Lk. 18:9-12)

Why  do  we  need  the  Righteousness  of  God ?

hEvery person is born with the original sin therefore has no righteousness and cannot have righteousness.
hWithout the righteousness of God we are all sinners in His sight, and are under condemnation to go to hell .
hTherefore the Lord Jesus Christ preached; “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Mt. 6:33)

How  do  we  receive  the  Righteousness  from  God ?

hThe only way to receive the righteousness from God is to first acknowledge we ourselves are sinners, then believe in the Lord Jesus Christ’s atoning death for our sins (Rom. 3:22-25; 4:3-5, 20-22).
hThe next step is to repent and receive baptism into the Lord Jesus Christ and have our sins washed away by His precious blood, then we can  become righteous before God (Acts 2:38; 22:16; Rev. 1:5).

What  has  Water  Baptism  got  to
       do  with  God’s  Righteousness ?

hThe Lord Jesus Christ has no sin yet He asked John to baptize Him. “Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.  And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?"  But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness."  (Mt. 3:13-15)

       Preserve  the  Righteousness  of  God

hAfter we have been baptized and have our sins washed away we are still capable of committing sin because we continue to live in the flesh.
h ”If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 Jn. 1:8-9).
hThe Holy Spirit sanctifies us by convicting us of unrighteousness and sin (Jn. 16:7-10; 2 Thes. 2:13).
hEvery believer must attend Sabbath Day services regularly because the Lord Jesus Christ sanctifies and cleanses the church “with the washing of water by the word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Eph. 5:25-27)

What  happens  to  a  Christian  who
willfully  and  persistently  commits  sin ?

h"For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.” (Heb. 10:26)
hThis same principle may be applied to a Christian denomination or a nation.

God’s  Warning  to  all  Christian  Denominations

hLord Jesus prophesied concerning Christians in the End Time: “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Mt. 24:12) “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place -- unless you repent.” (Rev. 2:4-5)

What  are  America's  Serious  Sins  against  God  ?

hDeny the existence of the Creator God and by teaching only the theory of evolution in the public schools.
hProhibit the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ to be invoked within the compounds of the public schools.
hSince January 1973 when abortion became legal in America millions of babies have been “murdered.”
hSame sex marriage is approved by 52% of Americans and is legalized in some states.

God’s  Warning  to  a  Sinful  Nation

hThe word of the LORD came again to me, saying: "Son of man, when a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness, I will stretch out My hand against it; I will cut off its supply of bread, send famine on it, and cut off man and beast from it.  Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness," says the Lord GOD.   (Ezek. 14:12-14)

God’s  Warning  was  given  to  Israel,
but  it  may  also  be  applied  to  America

hIsrael was God’s chosen nation in the Old Testament time, but in the New Testament time God favors any nation that believes in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 10:34-38).  America was originally founded on Christianity, but recently its faith is no longer the same as the original one.

How  does  God  deal  with  the  Sins  of  America

h"Son of man, when a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness, I will stretch out My hand against it; I will cut off its supply of bread, send famine on it, and cut off man and beast from it.” (Ezek. 14:13)
hFamine includes high unemployment rate, that is having difficulty to provide meals at home.  America’s economy and national unemployment rate is not good.

God  will  take  care  of  the  Righteous  People

hOur righteous God would never punish the righteous people together with the wicked ones.  (Gen. 18:16-33)
h“The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.”  (Psm. 37:18-19)

       God  delivered  Three  Righteous
Men  during  the  Time  of  Famine

hEven if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness," says the Lord GOD.   (Ezek. 14:12-14)
hAll these three men were called righteous because of their great faith in the One True God.  We can all learn their righteousness from them.

       The  Righteousness  of  Noah

h“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”  (Heb. 11:7)
hGod “ did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;” (2 Pet. 2:5)

Noah’s  Righteousness  in  his
Gathering  of  God’s  Clean  Food

hBefore the Great Flood God gave man and animals only herb, nuts, seeds and vegetables for food (Gen. 1:29-30).   After the Flood Noah became a farmer (Gen. 9:20)
hGod commanded Noah: “And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them. Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did." (Gen. 6:21-22)

      The  Righteousness  of  Daniel

hKing Darius decreed firmly that any person who prayed to God or man would be cast into the lion’s den.  Daniel faithfully prayed three times a day.  Although he was cast into the lion’s den but the Almighty God saved him because he was a righteous man (Dan. 6:4-24).

       Daniel’s   Righteousness  in  his
       Choice  of  Biblically  Clean  Food

h“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; . . . "Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. . . . And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king's delicacies.”  (Dan. 1: 8, 12, 15)

      The  Righteousness  of  Job

hThen the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?" (Job 1:8)
hJob was attacked by Satan who killed his servants, all his livestock and his children. And he said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD." In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.”  (Job 1:20-22)

Job  Prayed  for  his  friends  and  received
      God’s  Restoration  and  Blessings

hJob’s three friends were supposed to comfort him, but they insinuated he must have committed grievous sins to suffer such adversities.  “And the LORD restored Job's losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. . . Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.” (Job. 42:10, 12)

hIn order to go through the Great Tribulation we all need to have the Righteousness of God, like Noah having a Place of Refuge with ample supply of food; like Daniel praying three times a day; not afraid of persecution and eating only biblically clean food; and also like Job going through sufferings and still praising the LORD!

May God bless You
