Is Hurricane Katrina the

 Judgment from God?

The effect of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans was very severe, resulting from one of the most deadly natural disasters in U.S. history.  By August 30, 2005, one day after the Category 4 storm made landfall, 80 percent of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, was flooded, with some parts of the city under 20 feet (6 m) of water. The flood was caused by several levee breaches due to a combination of a powerful storm surge, strong winds and excess water in the bodies of water surrounding the city. The event continues to have major implications for a large segment of the population as well as for the economy of and politics in the entire United States. Two Views on whether Hurricane
Katrina is God’s Judgment

Amongst Christians there are at least two main views on whether or not Hurricane Katrina is the judgment from God.  One view is that hurricanes and floods are natural disasters that have occurred since the world began.  Many good Christian people have been affected by it, and God does not destroy the good with the bad people.  We should not be too hasty to jump into conclusion and pronounce judgment on things we do not know for sure. The other view comes from Fundamentalist Christians whose beliefs are based on a literal interpretation of the Holy Bible and strict adherence to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles.

Why Hurricane Katrina is the Judgment from God

It is never too easy for any preacher in America to talk about Hurricane Katrina as the Judgment from God.  Those who do so would run the risk of being judged by others to be either insensitive or lacking in Christian love and compassion.

Just the other day I was preparing the email on “The House of Relief”, and I inserted the message (on the left) “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray. . .” (2 Chron. 7:14).  When I looked at the picture with the biblical text over the flag of U.S.A. this thought came to my mind. God is speaking to America. This country do really need a deep repentance. Image File history File links Katrina from NOAA/GOES 12. ...

                    The Great Flood during Noah’s

Time is the Judgment of God

“Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.  So the LORD said, ‘I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” (Gen. 6:5-7)

“For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.” (Gen. 7:4)

God was sorry that He had created man because of his wickedness and He would destroy him by the Great Flood.  Although God had promised Noah He would not “again destroy every living thing” on earth with another world-wide flood, but He would allow a local flood.  God has destroyed the wicked Egyptian army that was trying to overtake the children of Israel with the flood (Gen. 8:21; Ex. 14:24-28).

New Orleans is a wicked and sinful city

This web site “NEW ORLEANS FEATURES - Life in the BIG EASY” encourages tourists and visitors to New Orleans to commit sin without thinking of the consequences.  “This is New Orleans. Feel free to fall in love. Sin at will. There's always time for guilt tomorrow, or the next day.”     Click here:  http://www.bigeasy.com/features/bigeasy.html

The End Time will be like the days of Noah

“But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.  But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  For as the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”  (Mt. 24:36-39)

This prophecy given by the Lord Jesus Christ about two thousand years ago describes the general world condition in the End Time before His Second Coming.  Our Lord mentioned Noah and how the people were caught by the Great Flood while they were “eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage”.

People in New Orleans were eating and drinking in sin

What Jesus was saying about “eating and drinking” He did not mean the normal daily meals that Christian families have at home, but was talking about eating and imbibing intoxicating drinks excessively which is called gluttony (Pro. 23:1-3; Php. 3:19). He warned His disciples about having wild parties, “carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.” (Lk. 21:34)

Look again at this same web site: NEW ORLEANS FEATURES - Life in the BIG EASY”.  “Eat. Drink. Be merry. Eat more. Drink more. Let it all hang out. Dance wildly. Lose control. Yelp and yowl. Howl at the moon, if you're so compelled. Or just take it easy. Get a good night's sleep. Sip café au lait at dawn and watch the rich, muddy waters of the Mississippi turn golden-red with the rising sun. This is New Orleans. She accepts all, because she's a product of all. Daughter of Cajuns, Creoles, Native Americans, Spanish, French, Africans, English, Irish, Italians, Germans, the Caribbean and sundry other influences that, all together, shaped her into a city like no other you'll encounter on land native or foreign. New Orleans food is as delicious as the less criminal forms of sin. - Mark Twain Sin is a way of life in the city that invented the cocktail and, later, the drive-through daiquiris shop, the city where 200 years ago a game of dice and chance was introduced and came to be known as 'craps.'New Orleans anarchy linked to its drug and alcohol consumption?http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/mostert/050903

                           People in New Orleans were

marrying and giving in marriage

Marriage between a man and a woman is instituted by God (Gen. 2:18-24).  Our Lord Jesus Christ acknowledged this truth (Mt. 19:4-6). The main purpose of marriage is for the procreation of children (Gen. 1:27-28).  Same sex marriage or homosexuality is forbidden by God.  “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman.  It is an abomination.” (Lev. 18:22)  Homosexuality is punishable with death (Lev. 20:13).  Lesbianism which is women having sexual relationship with one another is forbidden by God and is also punishable by death (Rom. 1:24-32).  The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah is homosexuality and God destroyed both cities with brimstone and fire (Gen. 19:1-25).  The word “sodomy” is derived from Sodom.  “. . . as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone over strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (Jude 7)

Since 1972 every year on Labor Day weekend homosexuals, sodomites, lesbians and various sexual perverts converge on New Orleans to celebrate “Southern Decadence”.  This year Southern Decadence week was scheduled to start on Wednesday August 31, 2005 and end on Labor Day (Monday) September 5, 2005.  On Monday morning August 29, 2005, just two days before the start of “Southern Decadence”, Hurricane Katrina pounded on New Orleans that prevented the homosexuals from publicly celebrating their gay lifestyle.  God’s target and timing are perfect.

New Orleans gays party anyway

On Sunday, a small group of revelers gathered on Jefferson Street in New Orleans to celebrate "Southern Decadence," an annual gay event that last year drew more than 100,000 people. Hurricane Katrina preempted this year's festival, scheduled for the week of Aug. 31st, but diehard party animals like carpenter John Lambert went dressed up as a member of the Village People and carried a sign reading "Life Goes On." Given that there are dead bodies still floating in the streets, there's something just a little unseemly about that.Posted by Vincent at September 6, 2005 03:06 PM

The First Commandment states: “You shall have no other gods before Me.” (Ex. 20:3)

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery-witchcraft, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Gal. 5:19-21)

God has given Warnings to Christians
in America about His Judgments

While Noah and his family were building the ark there must have been a lot of people ridiculing them.  Noah was a “preacher of righteousness” therefore he must have given the people many warnings, but they did not listen to him (1 Pet. 2:5).   Today people also ridicule preachers that give warnings about impending doom and disaster.

In January 2005 John Mark Pool, a Christian minister in Louisiana, wrote the testimony of a vision he saw of New Orleans being flooded. The Prophetic & Rhema Word of the Lord for January 2005 ©

What I saw in this vision:

This morning I heard the abundance of a mighty earthquake having just occurred in the heavenlies. A major shift is taking place in God’s realm of the spiritual and the supernatural. Yet again, I was overwhelmed that I felt He impressed during this time that our country will experience soon what I saw in the spiritual—major earthquakes and extreme flooding. Flooding was seen in the central and the Southern United States. I saw New Orleans literally 20 feet underwater across the main downtown area. At this time of flooding in New Orleans, I saw it as a sewer full of debris and every form of garbage floating around and swirling in the flood. The French Quarter will be wiped out in the flood. Bourbon Street will be abandoned. Alligators will be swimming where dens of iniquity once abounded. http://www.wordtotheworldministries.org/new_page_1.htm

Another Christian minister, Kim Clement from California, gave a word of prophecy to the ministers of New Orleans and warned them about the flood.

FROM THE PEN OF KIM CLEMENT

On July 22nd, 2005, while in Texas ministering, I received a word from the Spirit which was spoken publicly at Christian Life Center in Humble, TX. Here is the word:

Servants of God; Gatekeepers of New Orleans:

"Enough of past curses reminding you of yesterday’s failures. Enough of New Orleans and its treachery. Enough of stealing the Ark of the Covenant from my people just because you had those surrounding you that had no faith. Caleb said "we are able to take this land;" Joshua said "we are able to take this land." But ten voices arose against the Lord God. And they would stone my servant Moses and say let us stone them and raise up another leader so that we may go back to Egypt. Would you go back to your dung? Would you go back to your vomit?

O New Orleans God speaks to you from Houston tonight and says enough of this! For a judgment is coming says the Spirit of the Lord, and I will take the men that have stood in faith, raise them above the flood that shall destroy those that constantly bicker and stand against my servant Moses, or my servant Bilbo. I want you to understand there are great men in New Orleans that have faith, but you have been set aside not to lose but to win. Enough of this! For I will take the curses and the bodies will even rise and they will come forth on the water, but I will keep you and the stench of death will only last a few days. And then what I promised two years ago will come to pass for August, September and October of this year I made a promise it would happen, and God said be strengthened now, be strengthened now, for enough is enough says the Lord."

Prophecy from 7-22-05- Pastor Richard Rodriguez (Host of the meetings held in Houston, TX) Christian Life Center- 6650 Rankin Rd. Humble, TX 77396 (281)-319-4673 www.clc-church.com

New Orleans Minister sees Hurricane Katrina

as God’s cleansing of the City’s sinfulness

God's mercy in the aftermath of Katrina -- but in a different way. Shanks says the hurricane has wiped out much of the rampant sin common to the city.

The pastor explains that for years he has warned people that unless Christians in New Orleans took a strong stand against such things as local abortion clinics, the yearly Mardi Gras celebrations, and the annual event known as "Southern Decadence" -- an annual six-day "gay pride" event scheduled to be hosted by the city this week -- God's judgment would be felt.

New Orleans now is abortion free. New Orleans now is Mardi Gras free. New Orleans now is free of Southern Decadence and the sodomites, the witchcraft workers, false religion -- it's free of all of those things now," Shanks says. "God simply, I believe, in His mercy purged all of that stuff out of there -- and now we're going to start over again."
The New Orleans pastor is adamant. Christians, he says, need to confront sin. "It's time for us to stand up against wickedness so that God won't have to deal with that wickedness," he says.

Believers, he says, are God's "authorized representatives on the face of the Earth" and should say they "don't want unrighteous men in office," for example. In addition, he says Christians should not hesitate to voice their opinions about such things as abortion, prayer, and homosexual marriage. "We don't want a Supreme Court that is going to say it's all right to kill little boys and girls, ... it's all right to take prayer out of schools, and it's all right to legalize sodomy, opening the door for same-sex marriage and all of that.”

New Orleans Residents: God's Mercy Evident in Katrina's Wake

http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/9/22005b.asp

As Christians we are not to condemn the whole city of New Orleans because there must also be many good people in there.  We must use Christian love and compassion to do whatever we can to help those who have survived the greatest natural disaster that ever hit America.  We are still One Nation under God, therefore we must unite to get rid of the filth and rebuild this country to honor and glorify the One True God in the Lord Jesus Christ.

As of September 2, 2005:

Over 20,000 People are missing.

Over 700 people are confirmed dead, with thousands more estimated to be in the city of New Orleans, under water, or in rubble of the other towns that were obliterated by the storm. The death toll could go over 2,000 or more by the time the final calculations are done.

Hundreds of people are STILL waiting to be rescued, and are without water, food, clothing, or sewage facilities. There are a great many little towns and rural areas that were hit by this storm, that have been completely overlooked in the rescue efforts that have been going on. People are still trapped in their homes in the flooded city of New Orleans, living in the attic, or on the roof, with no way to get out.

Power is out for over 4.5 million people, in 4 states. Full power will not be restored for many weeks, if not months.

Running water, sewage, gas, and basic services that are needed for human life are gone in the majority of these areas, and will not be restored/repaired for months.

Entire communities were leveled. Literally nothing remains of some homes, stores, office buildings, hotels, casinos, but rubble.

Some buildings were literally lifted off of their foundations, and thrown around like twigs, landing on top of other buildings or homes.

The levee system in New Orleans, designed to protect a town that sits below sea level from Lake Pontchartrain, and the Mississippi River, failed in multiple places. Breaches in the levees brought walls of water rushing into the city.

Over 80% of New Orleans is now under water, and the ramifications of this are simply staggering.

The once vibrant city, which was home to over a million people, must be fully evacuated because of the severity of the health risks posed by this flooding situation. People do not fully comprehend what is going to happen there, and how severe the situation would be if they stayed behind, or if they go into the city. The National Guard is not allowing the Red Cross into the city to help, because it would encourage people to stay, and it is simply far too dangerous to stay in this stagnant soup of toxic water for any period of time.

The draining of the city will take months. Literally. For months, water will be standing in the streets, homes, and buildings. The water is literally a toxic mixture that has never been seen before in this country:

·         Chemical plants are flooded, and oil is leaking out from homes, factories, buildings, and oil storage tanks. Oil is leaking into the Mississippi River from huge storage tanks. The capacity of the tanks is over 3.3 million gallons.

·         Coffins have been unearthed by the savage storm, and are floating in the water, leaking formaldehyde, and human waste.

·         Sewage systems are not functioning, and are mixed in with the standing water already in the streets, in every area of the city.

·         Bodies of those unfortunate souls who died in the storm, or in the aftermath, are floating bloated in the water, or sitting on the side of roads, inside buildings, and every single day that goes by adds to the dangers of disease.

·         Bodies are still buried, covered, or in buildings that are still inaccessible by recovery teams.

·         Roads are washed out, bridges are gone, the ability for assistance to get into the city is hampered and limited, and there are still people who are trapped in their homes, who have been without food, without water, without a clean place to sleep, and the resources are simply not great enough for the need.

·         Hospitals, morgues, and companies that handle or process dangerous chemicals are destroyed, those substances mixed into this water flowing through the streets.

·         Insects, vermin, bacteria, fungus, parasites, and other hazards are breeding, even as we speak.

·         Diseases such as West Nile, Cholera, Typhoid Fever, Dysentery, Hepatitis A, E. Coli, Encephalitis, Cryptosporidiosis, and a variety of other severe, horribly infectious threats could be seen, and there is a severe potential for a pandemic health crisis like never seen before in this country.

·         An outbreak of Dysentery has already been reported in Mississippi.

·          The CDC has stated that this could become one of the worst infectious disease issues in our century, if not the history of the United States.

Federal disaster declarations blanketed 90,000 square miles (233,000 km²) of the United States, an area almost as large as the United Kingdom.

The cost to rebuild these cities, towns, and parishes cannot be fathomed at this time, but it is well over 30 billion dollars in "insured" losses, and estimates are that number is half what the total damage is, and the longer New Orleans is underwater, the more damage will be sustained.

                       May God bless you
